This is a little doodle I did on a post-it note. It's Mr. Roarke from the New Fantasy Island played by Malcolm McDowell, who is super cool!

Your computer generated stuff is really great! You've got an eye for placement. All your banners and stuff look really professional. As far as your drawing skills, I've never seen any of your stuff (hint hint! ;D), but drawing is like riding a bike, you never really forget. And you've got an eye for placement, which is a great skill for any kind of art. Me, I just plop the focus in the center of the paper, neh! Not very interesting! Heh heh!

Hehe ok, here's a link that features some of the stuff I did last year www.geocities.com/asylum13_02/contents.htmlUnfortunately I kinda forgot to finish it off so two of the links at the bottom aren't working *lol* I guess I'll get round to that eventually It's a bit of an online portfolio, really. I'll have to update it once I've finished some of my work this semester

Oh, Claire! Your stuff's great! You really are very good at design! Is that what you're studying in college? I like your picture of Death (The Grim Reaper one) And that last banner of Sailor Earth with Planet Earth in the background, it's very beautiful.

Yeah I'm studying multimedia/webdesign But you should see some of the other peoples work! It's a lot better than mine Hehe thanks I like the "Death" pic too, that was one of my favourite pieces of the year

Hehe *blushes* Thanks But I'm not that good... Yeah I'm studying multimedia/webdesign But you should see some of the other peoples work! It's a lot better than mine I had that problem when I went to an arts high school. You've got to think of it this way: you've been put into an environment that allows you to learn from your peers as well as your instructors. Recognise that they are 'better than you' (although I like to think of it as being, 'different than yours' not better ) and then try to pick apart their works to find out why they are better. 'Steal' their techniques. Use what you've learned from that and apply it to your own work. I know it's probably an obvious thing to do, but I thought I'd pass it along anyway, because I like to be redundant and obvious. Lol!

Hehe yeah, you're right. In design I guess there isn't really a "right/wrong" answer, what matters is that the client likes it, and it adheres to a brief. I might have a different way of interpreting something than another person. And like my Design teacher always says: "Good artists borrow, great artists steal", hehe
