Jay Thomson Blake
Citizenship: English (Operwelt) Birthday: January 11, 1979 Physical Description: 6'1", 170 lbs., bowl-cut dirty blonde hair. Wears a three-piece tweed suit, suspenders, and a homburg.
Jay Thomson is a correspondant for The Times (of London) at the Europe Desk. His father, Edward Blake, was given a Life Peerage (as Baron of Upton Pyne, Devon) by the Empress for his work as an engineer designing a new sewer system for the region around their hometown of Exeter. Baron Blake retired shortly thereafter on a government pension so he and his wife Lily could raise their son Jay Thomson and daughter Margaret. Jay Thomson received high marks at his secondary school and qualified for university. He went to Oxford University and earned a Bachelor of Arts in the English Language. After graduating, he was accepted for a position at The Times, probably because of his father's peerage. At first he worked mostly as a copy-editor and occasional local reporter. In August 2005, however, he got the opportunity to become a correspondant on the staff of the Europe Desk after another correspondant and a photographer were killed in a boiler explosion on an Elbe River steamship.
