Please scroll all the way down to see the latest version of the world map.Suggestions are welcome, as are any pointers regarding errors or conflicts with the timeline, written or discussed canon, and/or common sense. XD Still to do:-Chop down French Algeria somewhat to give Britain control of most of the southern and saharan portions. -Color in Norwegian colonial possessions. -Chop up Russia to create Poland, extend British control further into Central Asia, possibly create Finland, possibly create Baltic states. -Figure out and color Chinese treaty ports. -Possibly extend British rule over Himalayan nations. -Figure out British encroachment on Japanese territory, Russian Pacific territory, and determine the fate of Korea. -Figure out Ottoman Empire, possibly carve out a few more British possessions, possibly allow Greek independence. -Figure out South American history, possibly redraw borders, especially for Portuguese Brazil. -Chop up Austria? -Would Siam and Ethiopia really survive? -Where in the world is Carmen Sandiego? -Belgium and the Congo? -Italian history, fate of Venetia and Lombardy. -Where's Waldo? -The British/Mexican border is ugly.

Excellent map so far. I look forward to seeing what else you do with it. -Where in the world is Carmen Sandiego? I hear she's been retired for 15 years and is living like a king in Patagonia.... oh, wait, that's a different fictional character... >_>... Denmark, of course. It's easiest to hide amongst deeply boring people. =P -The British/Mexican border is ugly. Indeed. It looks like Mexico is using Texas to give the middle finger. o.o Speaking of which... I'm a little surprised that your Texas didn't remain an independent country, hehehe.

Thanks, Lolua. :-P Here's an updated version: Following changes: Gave the Faroe Islands back to Denmark from Britain >_> Colored in Norwegian posessions (because those single pixel islands are so easy to make out) Continued coloring minor European states (Scandinavia and Balkans) Took Monaco off the map (who cares about them anyway?) Created Poland, eastern border same as modern, everything else superceded by existing states. Drew in Aland islands and gave to Sweden

Continued coloring minor European states (Scandinavia and Baltics) I do believe you mean Scandanavia and the Balkans. The Baltic States (Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania) are still undefined and uncolored. However, you have colored in the Balkan States: what looks like Serbia-Macedonia (red), an independent Montenegro (yellow) and a curiously-shaped Romania-Moldova (periwinkle blue). I find it curious that the Ottomans held onto Albania but not Macedonia. Of course, if real history were under such scrunity, I'm sure it would be concluded that the way the middle east was broken up after World War I doesn't make much sense, either... >_>... Took Monaco off the map (who cares about them anyway?) Awww... but in this essentially Victorian society, Monte Carlo would still be the vacation hotspot of the European upper classes! I mean, it'd take eons to get to Phuket by airship.

Yes, the Balkans, fixed that Freudian slip, thanks. XD I forget what the official name of the funny shaped Danubian country is, but that's what they got when they combined Wallachia and Moldova before Austria-Hungary broke up. This is the map I was using as the base for mine, by the way, I believe it's supposed to reflect borders around 1914 though I've pasted bits of other ones into it: upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/c/c7/BlankMap-World-WWI.PNGDoes Serbia have Macedonia? I thought Macedonia was futher south, within Ottoman Greece on this map. In the Operwelt timeline, the borders of Europe don't really start changing until the 1860s (except for a brief union of Bavaria and Saxony in the 18th century), and if I'm remembering my history properly, Serbia should have been (at least somewhat) independent by that time, but not Albania. Hehehehe, well I'll have to see if I can work in a reference to it somewhere in the story.

Found some more southern pixels to give to the Brits Changed the colors of Switzerland and Württemburg so they weren't the same as Serbia and Mexico (I hope to have a different color for every nation >_> ) Extended Ottoman control over the Caucusus territories Colored the Persian Empire Extended British Empire into Central Asian territories. Decided against extending British empire into territories around the Black and Caspian seas (too bulky and ugly)

Shrank Serbia on Lolua's suggestion, as they were indeed not likely to expand in the absence of the Balkan Wars. Also shrank French Algeria to better reflect the much stronger British check on their colonial expansion. Completely revamped the British/Mexican border. Have not yet made a firm decision on the ownership of California, however. Fixed a coloring issue with the Belearic Islands. I had apparently changed Spain's particular color of yellow, but forgot to apply it to the islands as well. Colored Poland.

I scaled up the map to start adding labels for territories and subdivisions. It's way too big to post directly, so here's the thumbnail. I've come to the conclusion, however, that I'm just going to need a separate map entirely for the European region.

Here's the first version of detail map of Europe, mostly just the German states colored in thus far, and still preserving the original borders on the map I downloaded, final version will erase those:
