Trying to figure out a battle system for this game... I always disliked how RP' battles tend not to take the environment around them into account (except for a sandstorm or something). And then I saw the card system used in one of the Fullmetal Alchemist games where you got random element cards and could do certain alchemy things from that... even though this was pretty cool, it still could be better because they didn't correspond to the environment around them... so I thought why not have special 'sets' of cards for each environment (and maybe special environments for boss fights or something)..... hmm maybe it could be a sort of hybrid card battle system where only environment dependant attacks use cards.... hmm... no idea why I'm typing this out... must be tired :-P ... Anyway....
- Check which 'environment deck' to use.
- check who goes first.
- Generate 7 random numbers, choose the corresponding numbered cards for you first hand.
- Choose whether you want to attack defend, steal or use an item
- based on the cards in your hand, choose which attack or defense you want to use (probably have some kind of chart to go by)
- take the amount of damage and other effects from your opponant.
- depending on the amount of cards used, roll the dice to choose replacement cards.
- repeat card-choosing process for enemy.
- Use dice to decide whether the opponant attacks, defends, steals or uses an item.
- use dice to decide which number of cards the enemy will use according to which action was decided upon.
- use dice to randomly choose an enemy attack
- take damage and effects away from yourself accordingly
(this is the no-AI version... might think up a smarter enemy eventually but I'm tired now)
-Repeat process until either you or your enemy are out of hitpoints
- use dice to determine which items and how many, out of the spoils section, you are rewarded.
- choose to steal anything else off the body or from enemy's inventory
- tally up skill, experience and other effects of the battle's outcome.
