I need to expand one detail from the story prologue and chapter 1 intro that is not explicitly clear, and probably needs to be for you players to have the best understanding.
Every child on the Piper was kidnapped by the beautiful young woman briefly mentioned in the prologue. The "kidnappings" in these cases are not violent affairs, but rather involve all of the children being lured away. The woman doing this is extremely effective at the task because she has, for lack of a better explanation, a magical ability to make people trust her on sight. The few who are able to resist this magic are all either very strong-willed adults, or much more familiar with the woman than the kidnapped children are.
There are some other similar kinds of subtle magic in the HDM universe that the story may encounter, and personally it's one of my favorite things in the series, since it's an almost real-world magic, based on psychological manipulation and a very effective manner of self-projection.
But I need to make sure that everyone understands that the characters (both player and the other children) went willingly to the Piper. That should be the last direct intrusion I make upon your characters. The rest, now, is up to you.
