I found a lot of old files of mine... might have a few things to post up ... here's one of them... This is a poem I wrote in college for an assignment.
I am only words on a page Persuasive words Reasonable words Words that open doors Dangerous words
I am just a memory from the past A far off time A distant time A time long ago A dangerous time
I am merely a diary An old diary A persuasive diary A diary penned in my pure blood A dangerous diary
I am only words on a page I am just a memory fifty years past I am merely a diary
Tom Marvolo Riddle I am Lord Voldemort
---- Accompanying essay/journal thing:
This poem is based on the second ‘Harry Potter’ Book (are you sick of hearing me talk about Harry Potter yet?) Which is basically a book all about books. It show the good and the bad points of the gathering of information, but ultimately shows that it’s not the information itself, but what you do with it that’s important. Tom Marvolo Riddle, is the bad guy (his name handily anagrams to ‘I am Lord Voldemort’, which is his name throughout the other books) who’s goal is nothing short of immortality. He preserves the memory of himself in a diary, which, in a nutshell, absorbs the power from the reader for Tom to use to make his memory corporeal. In essence, words can be dangerous if used incorrectly, and that is what I hoped to illustrate with this poem.
