APPROVED Name: Methuselah Age: Unknown Gender: Male Race/Nationality: Unknown Specialty Creature? Homunculus Alchemist?: At one point.... Power: Shadow control. He is able to maipulate shadows and give them a substanial form. Description: He's very tall, with a lean, wirey frame. His skin is so pale it's almost translucent. He has very long black hair that is drawn into a slim braid that hands past his hips. His eyes are pure elctric blue, both the sclera and the iris with only small black pupils in the center. Clothing wise, he wears a sort of outfit that had been used to bind him, but really it looks as if he got his clothes from the same place Lust does =^_^= History: No one really knows how old he is, but they're pretty sure he's be around for a long long time. There have been snippets of legends in long forgotten books about him. Some say that he was once in search for eternal life and infinitle knowledge. He had found..something that granted his wish but it drove him irreperablly mad. Others say that he had traded his soul for ultimate power, but it backfired and drove him insane. Nonetheless, whatever he did, it permanemtly damaged his mind and psyche. After that he went on a mad rampage killing everything in his path. He was finally stopped, but at the time he was to powerful to destroy. So he was bound in a network transmutation arrays and burried deep in the bowels of the earth to be forgotten. His time in the dark void of nothingness that was his tomb drove him, if possible madder. He now has an intese and phobic fear of the dark (being trapped away in the darkness, he's got multiple personalities and schitzophrenic to boot Anything Else?: He can go from freind to foe, lucid to raveing mad in an instant, on a whim. He is extreamly unpreditable. His powers mirror his fear of darkness. Most of the time he has control of them, but sometimes it backfires on him.

Name: Theophrastus Bombastus von Hohenheim Nickname/Penname: Paracelsus AKA: Eremita of Einsiedeln Theophrastus von Hohenheim Age: 35 Gender: Male Race/Nationality: Amestrian Alchemist?: Not yet, but will be... Alchemical Specialty? : None yet Description: Has long blonde hair which he wears in a braid and long bangs which he wears parted on either side and a goatee. Has blue eyes and thin, serious eyebrows. History: Grew up in the kingdom of the East, Würtemberg where his family owned Hohenheim Castle...Is a scholar of Medicine, has dabbled in alchemy, but never thought he had any talent although he keeps returning to it every once in a while. Has a permanant case of wanderlust and travels from land to land, peddling his ideas on medicine. Has a habit of alienating his collegues because he's very blunt and opinionated, although he's got his heart in the right place...he genuinely wants to help people although his big mouth and big ideas often get him into trouble. CoughalotlikeEdcough.... Anything Else?: If he gets into a situation, he likes to pick up and move as well as change his name. NPC's Planned: Jie-Xian - (looks about in her mid thirties) a Xingian Alchemist adept at Medical Alchemy (the alchemical focus of Xing), Theo's future Alchemy teacher. I am basing him after the historical Paracelsus...noted physician and alchemist ... looking into him now...he's quite a character.... www.crystalinks.com/paracelsus.htmlNotes: Donati: By using the lives of those whe escaped the witch hunt, and the lives of those who were dying of plague. By repeating our experiments again and again, we finally grasped it.

APPROVED Well, this was my part of my original idea for Fullmetal Knights, but if that storyline doesn't make for enough interplay with the other characters or if he turns out to be too boring, I have a few other ideas. Name: Nicholas Flamel Age: 33 Gender: Male Race/Nationality: Amestrian Specialty Creature?: No. Alchemist?: Yes. For the State/kingdom/group?: Under the protection and patronage of the Lord of Leyhara, but otherwise not affiliated with the government. Alchemical Specialty?: Engineering and weapon enhancement, but he is rapidly gaining knowledge in a range of alchemic specialties. (See History below.) Description: Dark brown hair, green eyes, medium height. Clean-shaven except when he's deeply involved in a project. His face has gotten ruddy over the years from being around hot metal forges, but because he was mostly involved in the planning and design end of production, he lacks the heavy musculature generally associated with blacksmiths. History: Nicholas was raised by his hidebound father and grandmother, who also taught him alchemy. At the age of eighteen his father said he had learned all they had to teach him, and Nicholas left home to test his skills. For the next ten years Nicholas worked in the Leyhara armory, designing alchemically modified weaponry with his collaborator and good friend William, a metalsmith. During that time he also taught alchemy to William's younger sister, Perenelle. Five years ago, with the lord’s permission, he left to do roving research for a treatise called On the Art of the Circle, which would catalogue and classify the types of known alchemical circles and offer guidelines by which new circles could be designed. He has met with mixed success: some alchemists are willing to share their research, some are not. Anything Else?: Likes to get things right and is frustrated when he can't think of a way to improve something. Is naturally curious and open to innovation, traits he shares with William and Perenelle and which make them indispensable to their lord. He’s also fairly dense at interpersonal relationships because he doesn't think about much outside of his work, but his recent wanderings are helping with that in that he has become a bit more introspective and philosophical. Accompanying NPCs planned so far:- William (34), an Alban metalsmith and man of few words
- Perenelle (23), his sister, an alchemist

Name: Nicholas Flamel (SNIPPAGE) Nicholas worked in the Leyhara armory, designing alchemically modified weaponry with his collaborator and good friend William, a metalsmith. May I request that William's last name be Albus? So Nicholas Flamel's partner can be Albus, if not Dumbledore?

May I request that William's last name be Albus? So Nicholas Flamel's partner can be Albus, if not Dumbledore? ROFL... I was going to make him a foreigner from Creata/France, but if he comes from Alba/Britain then his medievalish surname can be Albus, like with Jack Shareburg (Jacques Cherbourg) in The Pillars of the Earth. Great idea! If anyone is curious, this is a good overview of how to give your medieval character a believable surname: enigma.cs.ucla.edu/games/santiago/surnames.htmlI'd give William an occupational surname, but a) he's got a sister, who isn't a smith, and b) since the armory employs more than one metalsmith, I think it'd be confusing and Matrix-like to have all those Smiths running around, LOL. ;D

Name: Hadar Amir Age: 38 Gender: Male Race/Nationality: Ishbalan Specialty Creature? (Homunculus, chimaera, etc): No Alchemist?: Yes For the State/kingdom/group?(specify which state/kingdom/group): None, exiled Mercenary Alchemical Specialty?: Simple transformations
Description: One of the taller and slightly lighter skinned members of the northeastern Ishbalan tribes of Ishbalan nomads (no good sub-ethnicity names as yet). Short-cropped black hair, graying at the temples, may wear some kind of light headgear as part of the arid-climate clothing; though this may go as he travels into the more temperate west. Also wears metal cuffs or bracers on his wrists, which will be alchemically transformed into the knives he uses. He's not young anymore, but is still very lean and fit.
History: Hadar's a seasoned veteran of a warrior. He was recruited at an early age (say about 16) into the native regiments of the Xing Empire's occupying army in Ishbal. Ultimately, his service was very short, because the Xingu abandoned Ishbal a mere 8 after Hadar joined up. During his brief tenure, though, he excelled, and the Xingu soon gave him special assignments assassinating prominent Ishbalan separatists, especially in the especially tumultuous west. When Xing finally evacuated their final colonial outpost, it left Hadar without a job or a cause, but not for long. With Xing gone, demand soared for military-trained guards to protect merchant caravans crossing the now largely lawless Ishbalan frontier. Hadar was able to make a healthy living overseeing the safety mostly of Sindi convoys trading cotton and dyes for worked metal in the western kingdoms. As Ishbalan warlords grew more powerful, however, overland convoys became less profitable compared to the growing amounts of seaborne trade, or even the longer, but far safer, route through Xing and Samartia. After nearly a decade making trade runs, Hadar retired from the travelling life, and sought work as a guard in the stabler and more prosperous areas near the border with Amestris and Drachma, finding a position as a sentry for a wealthy landowner. But even this occupation was not secure for long, as southern Ishbal fell increasingly under the sway of Taleb Al-Azim's faction of religious ultra-nationalism, and life even in the lazy northwestern corner of Ishbal became increasingly dangerous for an Alchemist. When the local lord's soldiers were defeated by Taleb's army of zealots, Hadar decided it was time to jump-ship, and he crossed the border into Amestris before he could be rounded up as blasphemer to the anti-alchemy god Ishbala. So he begins the story as a sort of refugee...
Anything Else?: He definitely needs a nickname, still working on this.

Name: Baganof Age: undisclosed Gender: Male Race/Nationality: Amestrain Specialty Creature? (Homunculus, chimaera, etc ) Proto-Homunculus Alchemist?: No For the State/kingdom/group?(specify which state/kingdom/group):: Potsilvania Proto-Homunculus Specialty? : Blowing things up and is really sturdy
Description:
Baganof is a short and pudgy Proto-Homunculus, His pale skin really draws out the beadiness of his black eyes His nose is flat as if squashed during his creation. He has a wide mouth that is on the edge of looking abnormal. He is always wearing dark clothing and has a hunched posture. It is a near guarantee that he is carrying something that will explode on him.
History:
Baganof is one of the first Proto-Homunculi that Fearless Leader crafted, this is where he gets his squishy looks from. He has been in the field so long that he has become a ledged around Pottsylvania. His ability to get into trouble in the line of duty is only outmatched by his blind luck that gets him out of trouble. He follows the creed that states “There is no trouble you can’t get out of with judicious use of explosives or fists.” This has increased his durability greatly in all his years of serving Fearless Leader. Unfortunately all the blows have not done very much for increasing his less than stellar intellect
Anything Else?:
He is constantly sent on missions, this makes one wonder. Does Fearless Leader even want him to live?

Name: Benedict of Athelstane Age: 36 Gender: Male Race/Nationality: Strattonian Specialty Creature? (Homunculus, chimaera, etc ) No. Alchemist?: Dabbler only, a few simple tricks at most. For the State/kingdom/group?(specify which state/kingdom/group): Minor noblity of Strattonia Alchemical Specialty? : Simple tricks suitable for amusing people at parties
Description: Medium height, solid build, slight paunch from too much good food, brownish neatly-trimmed beard and hair, brown eyes.
History: Younger brother of Count Athelstane, a minor figure of the Strattonian nobility. Grew up on the family's lands in the foothills of the Briggs mountian range, somewhere north of Stratton city. Since he wouldn't inherit the family lands or title, went into the military, where his good breeding, intelligence, and education led to his rapid rise through the ranks. Medieval armies not generally operating with what modern observers would call a hard-and-fast rank structure, you can think of him as roughly corresponding to a colonel or brigadier general: in a major battle he would typically command a signifcant proportion of the Strattonian troops involved, but not the whole army. His permanent postning is as commander of the Foothill Lancers, a unit of heavy calvary troopers recruited from amongst the petty nobility and wealthier commoners of his home region. However, Benedict has been an instrumental force behind the recent reforms of the Strattonian army, and a couple of books and pamphlets he wrote on the subject of military theory brought him to the attention of Duke Peter himself. Benedict is thus well-known and well-respected throughout the army, although a few traditionalists, primarily from among the higher nobility, resent such influence in the hands of a low-ranking nobleman with no title of his own.
Anything Else?: As our story opens, Strattonia is at war with Liora, and Benedict is, as usual, in the forefront of the action. My intended plot line involves my guy playing a key role in the Strattonian conquest of Liora, but then falling victim to political maneuverings by his rivals in the army command and in the ducal court back in the capital, being charged with treason, and being forced to flee for his life. Once no longer bound by his oath of service to Strattonia, he will seek work as a mercenary for another nation, probably Amestris itself.
