YOU MUST HAVE THE ISHBALAN FONT INSTALLED TO READ THIS
The Ishbalan font does not work like a normal font and is designed in such a way so as to accommodate spacing issues. Each letter takes up no actual space and therefore you must use the spacer to advance the cursor. The spacer is located on the semicolon key. This is so you may add diacritical marks for the vowels and also work out the space between letters to be aesthetically pleasing. All letters are located in their logical spaces on the keyboard with a few exceptions which will be laid out in the accompanying graphic. The sentence ender is located at the period key, and the standalone vowel placeholder is located on the colon key. The vowel/letter combination is read consonant then vowel for example, the word ‘Ishbalan’ would appear like this in English:
‘I’ ‘A’ ’A’
‘Vowel holder’ ‘SH‘ ‘B’ ‘L’ ‘N”
And in Ishbalan:
:i;;;S;;;;ba;aa;la;;;n
You’ll notice that the two ‘a’s are joined together, this is a common feature of two consecutive ‘a’ sounds. However, writing them separately is equally correct, but not usually done. Like this:
:i;;;S;;;;ba;;;la;;;n
This font and the hypothetical Ishbalan language were created by me, Mlle Bienvenu, because I have waaay too much time on my hands apparently. Everything else is owned by Arakawa-sensei, creater of Fullmetal Alchemist, because she rocks. This font may not be sold, distributed without permission, or used in commercial works. Anyone using the font or language for a work of fan fiction or art, please send me a link or a copy, I would love to see what you’ve done with it J Enjoy my insanity - Mlle Bienvenu.
