Haha, this'll probably get shot down in two seconds flat, but I was thinking about it, and I thought it might go with Greed's idea of Homunculi slayers, and would open up several new characters for people to take on, as we seem to be running low on juicy ones. It's really more of an 'expansion pack' to the FMA world rather than a regular OC.
Name: Jie-Xian
Age: around a thousand, looks about oh, I'd say. . .30ish
Gender: Female
Race/Nationality: Xingian
Creature? (Homunculus, Chimera, etc... ): Philosopher's Stone- see below for details
Alchemist? (Y/N): Yes
Alchemical Specialty? (If not an alchemist this does not apply): She's had plenty of time to perfect multiple areas of Alchemy, although because her memory is still human sized, she sometimes has to look at her notes and journals, which fill a whole library. I suppose she's best at what she started with, which is medical alchemy.
State Alchemist? (Y/N): no
For the State/Kingdom/Group? (specify which state/kingdom/group): for the general health of the natural order of things. Preserving the natural flow of the universe.
Description: Black hair, brown-black eyes, gingerbread colored skin. Not striking physically. Has a tendency to blend into the background. (were it not for her foot-carts )
History: A thousand years in the past, Jie-Xian lived in the mountains of Xing and helped her husband Ho Kung, noted Xingian alchemic doctor, with his practice. Eventually her husband became obessively interested in longevity and eternal life, and sought the philosopher's stone. Unfortunately just as he was close to the secret, he was backstabbed late in the game during the destruction of Xerxes (then a thriving trade-city linking Xing with Ishbal and Amestris), and he and the city were destroyed.
After being lost in the desert and nearly dying of exposure, she was picked up by a band of Ishbalans, who took her in and taught her their own form of alchemy (remember this is a thousand years in the past, a time before the 'Ishbalan Reformation') After years of study, at the age of 61, she finally came upon the secret of the true Philosopher's Stone. (more on that later)
Fast-forward about five hundred years to the Middle-Ages. While travelling accross Amestris just to get a pot fixed she could've gotten fixed anywhere in her own town, she meets one Theophrastus von Hohenheim, a naive and rather sarcastic youth unwillingly going off to fight in Ishbal to protect the trade routes from Xing that pass through Ishbal. Eventually she decides to teach him alchemy, but before he can learn the most important lessons. He meets a beguiling woman named Dante who plays with his heartstrings so that half of what Jie taught him goes out the window. They go their separate ways and he never learns of her near-immortal status, and she never learns of his attempt at philosopher's stone creation until much later.
Fast-forward another 500 years, where she learns of homunculi plaguing Amestris. Normally she doesn't interfere, but these homunculi seem to have been created using false-stones and attempts at bringing back the dead, no less, which definitely go against the natural order of things. So, with a flair for the dramatic, (or at least a sense of balance) she created 7 of her own homunculi that are opposites of the sin's names, based on people she'd met over the years. I'm thinking it would be fun to open up these seven homunculi as playable characters
---Chastity - (Looks like Nina Tucker) Ultimate Shield - power is the same as Greed's but her shield form is comprised of minute crystal diamonds, creating a sparkling white shield form that looks something like an imp. She can extend her shield around others instead of herself (only one person, because she's small), or if she has an external supply of carbon, use that to make her shield more extendable. (Greed could probably do this too, but he's Greedy and probably wouldn't think of it, hehee, although I wonder why he doesn't use his power to make jewelry grade diamonds hehee ) As Shou Tucker puts it, she has "Nina's indomitable spirit" She seems rather attached to Love as a friend and father figure.
---Temperance - (female Armstrong ancestor, about as tall as Pinako) Ultimate Strength - superhuman strength. A sturdy woman who has the heart of a pioneer. A little Izumi with Pinako thrown in for good measure.
---Love - (looks like Hughes but with Greed's hairstyle, except for the piece that sticks out in front, has no five o'clock shadow) Ultimate Aim - Uncanny ability to never miss targets. Carries throwing knives. He's Hughes. . . . 'nuff said. .
---Charity - (Looks like a young Tim Marcoh) Ultimate Alchemist - ability to do regular alchemy with circles. (Jie-Xian looses some of her alchemic ability when he is created becaue she funneled some of her soul into him) Very much like Marcoh, only not clinically depressed.
---Mercy - (Looks like Sarah Rockbell) Ultimate Heal - has the ability to heal wounds. A kind doctor who's chief joy in life is helping people. A little Winry and with Marcoh's bedside manner.
---Zeal - (looks like Scar execpt the X scar is a + scar and he has no tattoo on his arm. The cross shape is on the front of his jacket instead of on the back.) Ultimate Speed - has the ability to move very fast. Serious and stern. He doesn't say much, but when he does it's usually to either volunteer for the job at hand, or to offer improvements or concerns. He has Scar's um... devotion to his work and as such, he is very protective of his creator.
---Humility - (looks like a youngish Hohenheim) Ultimate Cloak - Has the ability to turn invisible. He can extend his invisibility around objects and other people touching him or in very close proximity. He never refers to himself in the first person unless absolutely neccessary (instead of 'I took the dog for a walk' he would say 'The dog was taken for a walk' or in response to a direct question of "Who took the dog for a walk" he would say "Took the dog for a walk." and raise a hand, skipping the subject of the sentence entirely.) He's sort of a background kind of guy. Likes to do things behind the scenes and to not be noticed.
The colors for the Virtues are white and red instead of the black and red of the Sins. Their hair is universally a brightened or bleached looking shade of the person they were modeled after. (Humility and Mercy: platinum blonde, Zeal and Temperance: bright white, Charity and Love: bright, glossy blue-black, Chastity: light brown.) They have niether cables nor ouroborus arrays on themselves. Nor do they have a Philosopher's Stone core, rather it's infused through their body as a whole. They don't have the amazing regenerative power of the Sins (with the exception of Mercy) because Mercy has been given the ability to heal. However, since they tend to work more as a team than the Sins' ball-hogging tactics, this isn't as huge a difficulty as it might seem.
Anything else you feel necessary: Sorry this is so long, but I wanted to make sure the concepts were adequately clear.
Here's how it works: According to the manga, there are three componants to the human body: Body, Mind and Spirit. Normal alchemy, using a form of external circle, is heavily accomplished by the physical body portion of the alchemist (although the mind and spirit are both involved to some extent)
Those who have seen partially into the Gate, like Ed, and can just clap their hands to transmute works mostly from the mind, this is a higher form of alchemy because it does not require the use of a fixed circle, literally forming the circle in his mind, thus allowing one to create many types of transmutations if one has them memorised also, the exchange rate is slightly better than that of a normal transmutation, but the effect is negligable. Also note that Ed had to give up part of his and his brother's bodies in order to obtain this form of transmutation.
Finally there's the third type of alchemy, soul-based transmutation and the secret to a true Philosopher's Stone. Wheras the first two resources, mind and body, are finite, one's own existance, assuming a phoenix-like cycle of death and rebirth (which does seem to be hinted at in the anime) is an infinite power souce, the prima matera of the philosopher's.
There are, of course, catches. You might wonder why the soul-filled pstones of Marcoh's aren't perfect. This is because none of those people gave up their lives willingly. And thus didn't give up any of their infinite number of alternate lives either, thus creating a finite stone.
As a side note, you might wonder about Scar's brother. I think he became a walking incomplete pstone because he gave up his mind, but not his body or his soul, hence his need for the array on his body and his lack of reasoning faculties. ( Truth: whee! Marbles! )
Also, you might think she's too powerful. And admittedly she does have the power. However, reaching the mindset capable of becoming the philosopher's stone is something like becoming a buddha or some other enlightened being, sure, the power's there, but you'd let the universe explode if it was within the natural order of things. She tends not to interfere if it's something that's perfectly within the bounds of human existance.
If she has all this power, what did she give up? Basically, she sort of put her soul into a funnel and is living out all her existances at once, she'll never see the other side of the Gate. (And I'm contemplating that when she does get killed, she simply ceases to exist, but i'm not entirely decided on that. Although she tells me she's perfectly okay with that.)
So, how do you kill her? She has a weakness to other, even imperfect, stones and especially to bio-stones such as Scar.
(Why does she look 30ish? Because what she looks like has mostly to do with how she sees herself in her mind. Like the Matrix's residual self-image)
Okay. . .sorry that's so long. .. I think I've said everything I want to. . . .: Looks at teh fishy nervously.
