Reminds me of Dr Marcoh (guy getting his shoulder stabbed at the bottom of the page here) Reminiscing on the atrocities of the Ishbal Massacre. Probably the ep where Marcoh was all like "Oh...you want to kill me? Okay, fine, I deserve it anyway...." Also it reminds me of the point when he's talking Mustang out of blowing his head off, and he decides he's going to desert the battlefield and take the proto-stones with him...

I was thinking this could describe several stages in Ed'n'Al's adventures. Climbing a ladder to the sun, either as a ref to the episode title "To challenge the sun", or leaving the underground opera house at the end...doing something that's never been done is fairly obvious...Al eventually gets missing piece...the theme of brothers needing to talk reminded me of the episode "bonding memories"...so many parallels, eh?
